Job Description
Role Title: Community Support Officer
Report to: Operations and Regeneration Manager
Reportees: None
Salary: £24,982.00 pro rata for hours LC2 New SCP 18
Hours: 15 hours per week
Overall Responsibilities
The Community Officer will co-ordinate, develop and expand the provision of community services in Hednesford. They will work closely with, and report to, the Operations and Regeneration Manager.
Responsibilities
- Bring together and co-ordinate existing community groups, activists and organisations in order to reduce any duplication of effort and enhance the overall provision locally
- Identify any communities which are currently overlooked in order to improve engagement and involvement, including new estates (residents)
- Support Town Councillors to develop their programmes of community work, in particular to ensure a successful and diverse events programme is delivered
- Coordinate and, where appropriate, further develop a programme of participative activities that can be widely publicised and promoted to residents
- Support both a greater volume and greater diversity of applications to the Town Council’s annual Community Grants Fund
- Work with relevant bodies to enable new groups and activity to be developed within the Town where appropriate
- Work with initiatives established by other organisations within the Town and the wider area to ensure these are linked in to the community groups already operating and the community more broadly
- Prepare external funding bids on behalf of the Council to a wide range of funding initiatives and grant schemes in conjunction, where appropriate, with the Operations and Regeneration Manager
- Work with the Operations and Regeneration Manager to undertake collaborative activity that enhances the Town’s economic and social role for residents
- Develop and co-ordinate a new Town Youth Council
- Where appropriate, recruit and manage volunteers i.e. for the monthly Farmers and Craft Market
- Produce a regular newsletter / e-shot for community groups and stakeholders
- Undertake such other duties as may be reasonable expected
