Town Council Meetings in the Community
The Town Council meet throughout the year and these meetings are routinely in the evening at the Pye Green Community Centre and, whilst open to the public, not attended by high numbers of residents. As new Councillors all elected in May we are all aware that this needs to improve and our community needs to recognise the value in having a Town Council and the importance of informing the Town Council of our collective priorities.
We have been working on many routes to engagement including a new Facebook Page, increased use of the existing Twitter account, created an Instagram account and redesigned our website which will be populated as the place to understand what is going on in our community. Alongside this digital footprint we will be launching a Town Magazine which will be produced and distributed to every door in the town through January and this will become a regular feature of the town for the years ahead. The magazine is supported and paid for by the advertising of local businesses.
We will also move our meetings out of Pye Green Community centre and change the times to suit engagement with different groups within our community. Our first opportunity is for our meeting on Tuesday (17th December) where Kingsmead School will host the meeting and the students of local schools have been invited to contribute to an extended open public section and will start at the earlier time of 6:30pm. The meeting will also be livestreamed by both the Town Council, as we do each meeting, and Kingsmead.
