More than 2,000 expected at Hednesford Christmas lights switch on
Hednesford town centre is getting into the festive spirit this [Friday 6 December] with its official Christmas lights switch on event.
More than 2,000 people are expected at the event, which will take place between 5pm and 8pm.
The event will feature stalls, fair rides, and live music from local primary and secondary schools, as well as the all-female Songbirds in Harmony choir, the theatre group Split Mask Company and local soloist Michelle Cox.
As a special new addition for this year, Hednesford Lions and Hednesford in Partnership will be providing a festive scene to allow visitors and residents to get some Christmas snaps.
Girls Venture Corps Air Cadets will be switching on the lights alongside Hednesford Town Council Chairman, Paul Woodhead at 5pm.
The town will also be running its famous best dressed shop window competition in support of local traders.
Speaking ahead of the event, Paul said: “The Hednesford Christmas lights switch on has grown in popularity over the last few years and we now see thousands of visitors. It’s a testament to the people of Hednesford, as well as the community groups and individuals who continue to support events like this throughout the year.
“As a council we’re extremely proud to be able to fund the lights in Hednesford and to continue to attract visitors from miles around. Hednesford is the gateway to Cannock Chase and the more that we can do to shine a light on this incredible town and the people who live here the better.”
