New role created out of demand for Farmers’ Market
With demand for fresh local food and a shopping-local mentality, Hednesford Farmers and Craft Market is one of the biggest and most popular in the region.
Such is its success that the Town Council is now recruiting for a brand-new role created out of month-on-month growth and footfall on Market day.
Town Mayor Cllr Emma Hunneyball, comments: “The brand-new Market Manager role has been created to manage the 50 current stallholders, the waiting list of new stallholders, events happening on market day, and the footfall of people coming to visit each month.
“We’re pleased and immensely proud of the success of our Market, which takes place on the last Saturday of every month, 10am-3pm, and it has been a welcome site to see so many people returning following the pandemic restrictions lifting.
“Even more so, the market has become such an important date in so many people’s calendars for a variety of reasons – small local businesses, including bakers, food and gift companies have been able to connect one-to-one with their customers again and the community comes out in force to support traders.
“There’s a definite spirit of camaraderie at our Market and this is something we want to continue to foster with the new role we’re creating, which will be covered by proceeds of the market.
“Being part of the Market is a great opportunity to get face-to-face with people. In today’s society, where everything is leaning toward the internet and shopping online, it’s increasingly challenging for traders, especially if they don’t have a retail store and that’s just one of the many beauties of our farmers market.”
