Raceway Parking and Field Damage

In January the Hednesford Raceway hosted their annual “North vs South Banger Civil War” event which again caused parking chaos and unauthorised access to the field along Littleworth Road and Priory Road resulted in significant damage to the area. Just to be clear the access to the field was not authorised by Cannock Chase District Council nor was it directed by the Raceway themselves but individuals removed the lock and charged people to park there before departing with the cash. A meeting has taken place between the Town, District and County Councils as well as the police to review the actions they can take in the future and further approaches have been made to the Raceway operators regarding their responsibilities towards the community and in particular parking in the local area. The District Council is reviewing the Event Management Plan with particular reference to Parking and highlighting the problems for the Raceway to address.

Separate to this the Raceway operators have approached me through another member of the community to look at alternatives around the parking locations and these conversations will begin in earnest in the next few weeks with a view to finding alternatives ahead of the next large event in May and the other larger events in November and next January. We will keep you informed of progress.
